Create Quality Graduates, Pancasila University Forms CEP

The Faculty of Law of the University of Pancasila (FHUP) held a Workshop which was part of the activities of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM) of the Pancasila University (UP), discussing the experiences of various universities preparing or starting to organize an internship program based on Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM), on Monday ( 19/7).

Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Pancasila, Prof. Eddy Pratomo, S.H., M.A., in his virtual state stated that this Workshop is important to support the establishment of the Career Empowerment Program (CEP) in the Faculty he leads. Prof. Eddy also mentioned that one of the problems that must be answered is the internship guide agreed with partners.

This online activity presented speakers from several universities, namely Dr. Dwi Hapsari Retnaningrum (Chairman of the MBKM FH UNSOED Internship Team), Dr. Tri Laksmi Indreswari, S.H., M.H (Vice Dean I and Person in Charge of MBKM FH UNDIP), Alfons Zakaria, S.H., LL.M. (MBKM Team of UB Faculty of Law), Wibisono Oedoyo, S.H., M.H (Vice Dean III FHUP), and senior HRD practitioner, Dr. Arry Ekananta, S.T., M.Sc.

Dwi Hapsari and Tri Laksmi shared that at the Faculty of Law Unsoed and Undip there were regular internships, certified internships from Dikti and MBKM internships. Cooperation with partners adapts to the form of the internship. Conversion of courses is carried out according to the specifics of the partner institution. In court, for example, courses in Procedural Law, Legal Arguments and Professional Ethics. The alignment is carried out by Universitas Brawijaya with curriculum changes. “Internship activities also make the curriculum more dynamic because partners can propose special courses. For example, the management of the law office”, added Alfons Zakaria.

Complementing it, Arry Ekananta stated that apprenticeships are very attractive to the Business World and the Industrial World. He admitted that the gap between graduates’ abilities and the needs of the world of work was answered by apprenticeships.

Internship needs are not only owned by undergraduate students. One participant said that now there are also postgraduate students who need internships because they have never experienced the world of work.

College managers who run MBKM internships admit that the Covid-19 pandemic is also a challenge. “It is difficult to persuade students to take part in internships at this time because so far there are many internships in government agencies and government institutions, while many students return to their respective homes. Therefore, innovation and intensive socialization are needed for students,” said Dwi Hapsari.
